Hello everyone, welcome back to Marshmallow Station and our story part three!
In previous posts, we’ve shared about where our shop name originated from, why we started this business, and what our main focuses were when we picked and chose our products to shape our shop identity. In this post, we want to share with you guys more about the present—where we are now, and where we are planning on heading to.
We started our stationery shop on Etsy at the end of the year of 2022. As Etsy was a platform known for unique handmade items, vintage goods, and craft supplies, it was a perfect platform for us to start our small business.
Within just a little over a year, we reached over 5000 sales, which showed how much love and support we were receiving from our customers. Among all these happiness, what brought us the most joy was seeing many customers constantly returning back to our shop for more. It showed that not only did they like our products, but they also appreciated the effort we put into packaging and customer service. We'd say we succeeded in choosing great products and artists that our customers love, along with our effort to provide the best customer service, and it was very meaningful to us.
Although Etsy was a great platform for us to start our business, we were always willing to expand our shop and range of audience. And we were seeing constant growth in our business at the time, which made us decide that it was time for us to move on to create our own website.
Among a few of the reasons why we wanted to start our own website, one of the main reason was that we wanted to start building our own platform to better share and showcase the numerous great Korean artists and their works to our audience in the US.
Secondly, we wanted to make it easier for our customers to view and find what they are looking for, as sometimes it can be hard to find things on Etsy. We also wanted to improve systematically, such as having a 'back in stock request' for our customers to be able to utilize instead of getting disappointed for the product they want being out of stock.
Thirdly, we wanted to offer better deals and offers to our beloved customers without limitation. As Etsy has some limitations in letting the customers know about the latest deals and offers, we wanted to better expose our deals and offers to the customers to better utilize it when they make purchases at our website.
Lastly, we wanted to make better connections with our customers. When we first started our business, we did not have enough time to start social media for our shop because we were busy just running our shop. Now that we are used to running our shop, we are aiming to have a better connection with our customers by sharing our behind stories and introducing each and one of the artists we are supporting through blog posts on our website and start utilizing social media as well to better expose ourselves to a wider range of audience.
We believe there are countless opportunities beyond Etsy, and we are excited to start fresh with this new website of ours. Despite the challenges we faced in the beginning and throughout the year of 2023. All your support, along with many others, has been incredibly encouraging for us to continue on. As we move forward and expand, our promise is to uphold the same standard and value that we've held since the beginning.
We've always wanted to share this story with you guys to share our passion and our genuine thoughts as we run our shop, which has a short but meaningful history. We promise to always do our very best to bring you guys the best and the finest products from South Korea.
